Benefits of activity based
working achieved by ABN Amro
11
Activity based working has a number of benefits for an organisation,
including reduction of real estate overhead, churn cost reduction
(including downtime), improvement in flexibility (better adjacencies,
ability to grow), ‘velocity’ – speed of decision making – improvements in
sustainability and business continuity, as well as increased knowledge flow
and increased innovation capacity.
ABN Amro use standardised measurements across all of its sites in the
54 countries where the bank operates. This benchmarking process has
enabled ABN Amro to target sites that could benefit from optimisation
and resulted in significant cost savings. A particular success was in
Singapore where the office space has been able to absorb an increasing
site population within the existing portfolio, by reducing individual’s space
requirements.
The guiding principles for the project were:
•
Behaviour – Smart Working
•
Bricks – Innovating housing
•
Bytes – Transformation and integration programme
•
Business – Tomorrow starts today.
Using these standardised measurements, ABN Amro
recorded the following outcomes from the programme:
