other challenges faced along the way and successfully overcome
include behavioural characteristics of different suppliers and
sharing of suppliers’ intellectual property.
The strength of the partnership model has allowed rBS to
restructure and achieve its outsource objective, resulting in
more efficient and effective collaboration. Since 2008 the
team has benefitted from
enhanced thought leadership
and
financial performance, reduced management time
and required
resource, enhanced
speed of delivery
,
good value with access
to more for less
, and an instantly
scalable platform
. It has
allowed rBS to react with more
agility
to a number of challenges
across its portfolio, quantified by internal supplier performance
surveys showing improvement since the start of the partnership.
As the partnership has matured, a number of best practices have
become evident with some being adopted by other corporate
organisations who have started implementing the outsource
partnership model. These include a one team approach with
openness and trust between suppliers, shared core values and
objectives with mutual KPIs, promoting the sharing of intellectual
property, partner to partner instruction, cross partnership
training, and an innovation and continuous improvement forum.
The corporate real estate team’s desire to implement the
partnership model and the suppliers’ willingness to collaborate
to such a degree is unique in the corporate real estate market.
This is demonstrated, not only through the level of time and
commitment that each supplier has shown, but also through a
number of cross-party initiatives that have been developed to
identify opportunities and deliver solutions for the client.

With open, full and frequent communication amongst us
all, the partnership delivers substantial benefits to the
rbS Group. There are no barriers to communication or
‘need to know approach’ which facilitates best practice
ideas, innovation, continuous improvement and produces
excellent results. Our core management function delivers
seamlessly time and time again, and our projects
consistently complete ahead of time and below budget. The
adage that a great team is better than the sum of its parts
is never more aptly applied than with our partnership.
